An annual contest hosted by the UGA Science Library encouraging students to create a project surrounding a S.T.E.M. concept in their medium of choice. The idea was to push students to think differently.
Because of the ongoing pandemic and the end of the internship approaching, the timeline for the project was limited in scope. Having time as a constraint, a logo refresh for the contest was the only necessary aspect my advisor wanted with this project.
The brand identity had to conform and adhere to UGA's brand guidelines when it came to decisions like colors and typefaces.
For the purpose of my portfolio, I explored the brand further to convey how this identity could be fleshed out and implemented beyond the scope of the project.
+ Familiarized myself with UGA's brand guidelines to inform the design constraints
+ Coordinated with my advisor on the design process to meet his vision for the brand identity
+ Highlighted the ideals of the contest and translated it into the design of the brand identity
The contest was about pushing students to look at science through their unique perspective. It was about bringing the senses of sight and touch together to create something new and different.
It is also about taking a microscope to our understanding of S.T.E.M. concepts, examining that understanding, and communicating it to a broader audience.
Through that understanding, I delivered a logo symbol that captured those aspects of the contest that my advisor and I agreed were essential and important.
